Training Programme for Education Professionals
Tier 1 Training:
Join SYEDA for a focused 90-minute training that builds confidence in recognising eating disorders and disordered eating behaviours, responding with sensitivity, and guiding young people toward the right support.
Grounded in lived experience and evidence-based practice, this session equips education professionals to respond with empathy, clarity, and strong understanding—within their safeguarding and pastoral responsibilities.
You’ll learn how to:
· Recognise the signs of eating disorders and disordered eating in students
· Monitor student behaviour and wellbeing over time to identify emerging concerns
· Identify key risk factors, including psychological, physical, social, and cultural influences
· Understand the importance of early intervention and timely support
· Recognise indicators of serious risk and know when urgent action is required
· Explore how body image, body respect, and societal pressures contribute to disordered eating
· Understand the relationship between neurodiversity and disordered eating behaviours
· Communicate sensitively and confidently with students while maintaining professional boundaries
· Navigate clear referral and signposting pathways to appropriate support
· Work collaboratively with families and external services to support student wellbeing
Designed for education professionals, this training uses contextually relevant language and examples for schools, colleges, and universities, with a focus on observation, supportive conversations, safeguarding responsibilities, and collaborative working with families and external services.
