tRAINING PROGRAMME FOR COMMUNITY, VOLUNTARY & CHARITY SECTORS

Tier 1 training:

Join SYEDA for a focused 90-minute training that builds confidence in recognising eating disorders, responding with sensitivity, and guiding individuals toward the right support.

Drawing on lived experience and evidence-based practice, this session equips community staff and volunteers to respond with compassion, clarity, and clear boundaries within the scope of their role.

You’ll learn how to:

·       Recognise the signs of eating disorders and disordered eating

·       Identify key risk factors, including psychological, physical, social, and cultural influences

·       Understand why early intervention matters

·       Recognise indicators of serious risk and know when urgent action is required

·       Build rapport with individuals to support open and safe conversations about wellbeing

·       Explore how body image, body respect, and societal pressures contribute to eating disorders

·       Understand the relationship between neurodiversity and disordered eating behaviours

·       Recognise co-occurring mental health or social challenges that may impact eating behaviours

·       Approach vulnerable individuals with confidence and navigate clear referral and signposting pathways

Designed for community professionals, this training uses accessible, non-clinical language and practical scenarios, with a focus on safe conversations, boundary-setting, and effective signposting, rather than diagnosis or treatment.
