Jessica Beard
CBT-T Practitioner
At SYEDA I deliver CBT-T, a ten-session version of CBT targeting behavioural and cognitive change for those experiencing binging and/or purging. The therapy is manual based but is designed to be flexible to suit the individual. CBT-T is very much a ‘doing therapy’ requiring behavioural change which I will guide you through, as well as addressing issues such as poor body image.
Before starting at SYEDA I completed a First Class degree in Psychology and a Masters degree with Distinction in Psychological Research Methods, both at the University of Sheffield. Since graduating I worked as a support worker for children and young people with autism spectrum disorder and complex needs. I then began working at the University of Sheffield as a research assistant in the Clinical and Applied Psychology Unit, primarily working in the field of eating disorders. I also volunteer at SHOUT, a text-based crisis helpline.
Outside of work I enjoy spending time outside (particularly with my horse!), or inside with a good book.
Ellie Daly
CBT-T Practitioner
Hello, I’m Ellie, a CBT-T and CBT-AN-20 practitioner. My CBT-T work focuses on a ten-session version of cognitive behavioural therapy for non-underweight eating disorders, while CBT-AN-20 is a twenty-session approach tailored to individuals who are experiencing anorexia nervosa. In both models, I also support people restricting, bingeing and/or purging to make meaningful behavioural and cognitive changes.
My approach helps clients understand the drivers behind these behaviours and develop long term tools to prevent them. Sessions also explore challenges around specific foods, emotion regulation, and body image. Across both treatments, I aim to create a collaborative therapeutic experience where clients learn to become their own therapists, with me acting as a ‘coach' to empower change.
My academic background includes a degree in Psychology (BSc) from the University of Sheffield. I am delighted to be part of SYEDA team, where we share a commitment to delivering accessible, effective therapy to support people affected by eating disorders.
Outside of my role at SYEDA, I enjoy the outdoors especially surfing, stand-up paddleboarding, and exploring new places. I also love indoor climbing and badminton.
Isabelle (Izzi) Bird
CBT-T Practitioner
Here at SYEDA, I am one of the CBT-T practitioners, delivering a 10-session version of CBT for Eating Disorders. Despite being manual based, CBT-T is flexible, enabling it to suit the individual. Some of its main principles are early behavioural change, addressing central cognitive features and relapse risk factors, monitoring progress, and responding to any ‘stuckness’ in issues such as bingeing/purging and poor body image. Part of my role throughout this therapeutic process is to act as your ‘coach’, to facilitate you in becoming your 'own therapist', developing your own toolkit, and encouraging you to make these changes.
Prior to starting at SYEDA, I had completed a first-class degree in Psychology with Employment Experience at the University of Sheffield. During my year in industry, I worked as a Teaching Assistant in a Secondary school, supporting students with SEND and SEMH difficulties. Whilst at University, I also volunteered for Sheffield Nightline. Since graduating, I had worked as a rehabilitation support worker in acquired brain injury. I am very happy to be part of the wonderful team at SYEDA, as we all have the same passion to deliver effective therapies, and to make a difference.
Outside of work, I enjoy going for walks with my dog, cooking, shopping, and travelling. I also love the beach, especially with a sunset!
Katie Mannion
Carer’s Lead & Counsellor
I joined the fantastic team at SYEDA in 2022 and now work as both Carers Lead and Counsellor.
In my Carers Lead role, I walk alongside families and friends of people with eating disorders, helping them feel supported and less alone as they navigate their loved one’s recovery journey. I run groups such as Treading on Eggshells, the Not Just a Fussy Eater ARFID course, and workshops designed especially for caregivers. I also offer one-to-one sessions, providing a safe space for carers to share, reflect, and feel heard. I truly believe in equipping and empowering families and friends—because eating disorders touch the whole family, not just the individual experiencing them.
As a qualified Counsellor, I also work directly with individuals across Rotherham and Sheffield who are living with a range of eating difficulties. I strive to provide a safe, non-judgemental space where people can feel fully themselves. My therapeutic approach is collaborative and person-centred, supporting each individual to move towards the goals that matter most to them.
I hold a first-class BSc in Psychology from Loughborough University and an MSc with distinction in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Derby. Since 2015, I have worked across a variety of eating disorder settings—including inpatient services (for children, young people, and adults), outpatient care, day services, and the charity sector. I am also preparing to publish my recent research on supporting caregivers in eating disorders.
Outside of work, I enjoy travelling, experimenting with new recipes, spending time with friends and family, and often getting lost in a good book.
Mary Wood
Diabetes and Eating Disorder Adult Clinical Dietetic Lead
I lead the South Yorkshire Diabetes and Eating Disorders Programme at SYEDA, working in collaboration with the South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board to improve care for people living with both diabetes and eating difficulties. My role focuses on strengthening collaboration between services, creating professional training and resources, facilitating MDT working, establishing peer support networks, providing clinical supervision, liaising with established specialist services across the country, and ensuring lived experience shapes service development.
Alongside this, I am a Diabetes Clinical Lead Dietitian at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals. I have experience supporting people with a wide range of diabetes types and treatments, including oral therapies, GLP-1 medications, insulin regimens, pumps and hybrid closed-loop systems. I also deliver structured education for people with type 1 diabetes. My previous experience includes working in a Tier 3 Specialist Weight Management Service and as a freelance dietitian.
I am an HCPC-registered dietitian with an MSc and BSc in Dietetics and a qualified supplementary prescriber, with additional training in diabetes, eating disorders and behaviour change. I am passionate about building therapeutic relationships grounded in compassion, understanding and active listening, ensuring each person’s needs remain central to their care.
Outside of work, I enjoy climbing, skiing, travelling and campervan adventures.
