Volunteering
Ideally we would like to take on everyone who wants to volunteer for Syeda and who can meet our requirements, however we curerntly have more people applying to volunteer than we have vacancies for volunteers. We need to ensure that we can provide proper training, support and supervision for all of our volunteer roles which is why we have to limit the numbers of people we take on.
These are our current vacancies:
Trustee on the Syeda Board
Periodically vacancies arise on the board of trustees, the governing body of Syeda. Trustees have the ultimate responsibility for directing the affairs of the charity, and ensuring that it is solvent, well-run, and delivering the charitable outcomes for the benefit of the public for which Syeda has been set up. Often specific skills sets are required, for example: finance, law, HR, mental health.
The Board meets in the evening every 6 weeks. As Syeda is a small organisation the board members take on additional responsibilities in line with their skills; this may be overseeing Syeda's training programme, line managing a member of staff or being involved in a sub-group.
If you are interested in becoming a member of the board please contact the Volunteer Co-ordinator to determine if there are any vacancies.
Fundraising Volunteers
We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated volunteers to form a new volunteer fundraising group. You will have the opportunity to work directly with members of our board of directors to set up, organise and put on fundraising events and activities. The group will start as soon as we have 4 or more suitable volunteers. The group will be mostly self running (with it's own chair person, treasurer and secretary) and it will be up to the group to decide how many volunteers it needs to involve. We can offer enthusiastic staff and board of directors to support you; also any necessary training needed and regular supervision.
If you are interested in helping with fundraising but do not want to get involved then we will also need a pool of people who are willing to help out with events etc.
Social Media
If you are good at twitter, facebook and e-bulletins we would love to hear from you. We are looking for someone to send out updates and monitor the sites. Again there is no role description and the timings etc can be very flexible - you could even do most of the work from home.
What about your skills?
If there are specific things that you would like to do or skills that you would like to use then do let us know although we can't guarantee that we will be able to accommodate what you want to do.
