Road to Recovery
You can recover from an eating disorder but YOU need to want to.
It can be a hard struggle. Sometimes it can feel like two steps forward and one step back. Here are some ways to make it easier:
-
Come and have an assessment with a member of our counselling team to find out what support we can offer you.
-
If you are a student in Sheffield there are specialist eating disorders nurses who can help you at the University Health Centre and the Porter Brook General Practice. You can also contact Biteback http://www.bite-back.org.uk for information on a specific group for students.
-
Not all GP's are experienced with eating disorders, however it's important to get help from a GP. You can ask the Practice Manager at your Medical Centre, if any of the doctors has a special interest in eating disorders. You can also talk to the Practice Nurse.
-
There are NHS guidelines on what treatment you are eligible to see on their website: (http://guidance.nice.org.uk/CG9/QuickRefGuide/pdf/English).
