Request
an appointment to come
into the centre for an assessment with Claire, our Clinical Services Manager.
Whether you're suffering from an eating disorder yourself, or caring for someone
with one, Claire can help you decide which of our services you might benefit
from. You are welcome to bring along friends or other family members.
Services we offer include counselling, dietetic advice and complementary therapies such as Reiki, Indian Head
Massage, Acupressure, or Aromatherapy Massage. These can help you relax and feel more
energised.
Ring our Help Line for information, advice and support and to find more about what we do. The
number is 0114 272 8855 and is staffed
Tuesdays & Thursdays 10.00am-5.00pm.
Ask us for an
information pack of
leaflets and
hand-outs. We
also have a library and lend out books. If you're having difficulty
getting the help you need from the NHS, we can give you a copy of the government
(NICE) guidelines on what treatment your GP should be offering you.
'Going
to the support group was the biggest relief - to know I wasn't the only one.'
Come along to our monthly support group for people with an eating disorder or the linked group for carers. To be a carer you don’t need to live with the person, just care about them - you might be a parent, a partner, or friend.
The groups meet on the first Tuesday of the month. When there are bank holidays the date of the support group sometimes changes so email info@syeda.org.uk or ring our admin line on 0114 272 8822 just to check.
My
Body My Self
Workshops
We run workshops on self esteem and body image. They are led by supportive, experienced trainers. For more details ring our admin line on 0114 272 8822 or email info@syeda.org.uk
If you're a carer look at the Carers page for the support we can offer you.
Are
you a professional?
If you are a health professional, or a teacher, or work with young people, come to a training workshop on ‘Understanding Eating Disorders’. These are held regularly. We can also tailor a training event to your needs.
Ask us for an information stand if you’re holding an event where you can raise awareness of eating disorders.
Invite us to come into a school or youth club to talk with young people about self-esteem and being valued for who they are.
For all enquiries email info@syeda.org.uk or 0114 272 8822 (admin line).
